    1. One of the small triangles has a perimeter of six inches and an area of 1.73 square inches. What is the area of the large triangle? What is the perimeter of the large triangle?

    2. Caleb and James are on a camping trip. Caleb hikes four miles per hour and James hikes five miles per hour. Caleb leaves the campsite and begins hiking down the trail at 8:00 AM. James leaves the campsite and starts walking down the trail at 10:00 AM. At what time will James catch up to Caleb? How many miles will they be away from camp? If they hike another two hours after they meet, how far ahead will James be?

    3. The speed of sound is about 760 miles per hour through air. The speed of sound is sometimes called "Mach." Different aircraft can fly at different Mach speeds. Some jets travel at Mach 2 or Mach 3 (two or three times the speed of sound). When the space shuttle orbits the earth, it is traveling Mach 25. How fast is this in miles per hour? The circumference of the earth is about 25,000 miles. How long would it take the Shuttle to fly this distance?
