    1. If one side of square A measures one centimeter, what is the area and perimeter for each of the other squares? Make a chart that lists the area and perimeter of each square.

    2. The amount of blood your heart pumps in one minute is called the cardiac output. Cardiac output is determined by this formula: s × p where s is the "stroke volume" and p is the pulse rate. The stroke volume is the amount of blood the heart squeezes out each time it beats. For a young teenager, the stroke volume is about 60 ml. Find your pulse. Use your pulse to figure out your cardiac output.

    3. Suppose you have a rich aunt who gives you one cent on your first birthday. The next year she gives you three cents, the following year, nine cents. Each year she triples the amount of money she gave you the year before. How old will you be when your aunt gives you more than $500?
