    1. Gladys is designing a flower garden for a city park. A small fence will surround the flowerbed. Gladys has 100 feet of fencing to use. If she designs a square garden, what will be the garden's area? If Gladys designs a circular garden, what will be its area?

    2. Gladys wants to fill the garden with brightly colored pentas. Each of these plants costs $1.75 and requires 35 square inches of soil. For each of the two garden designs in problem one (the square garden and the circular garden), calculate the cost to fill the garden with the selected plants.

    3. Calculate the volume of a standard soda can in cubic inches.
