    1. The population of the United States is 275 million people. The land area of the United States is 3.6 million square miles. If the land area of the United States were evenly divided among its population, each person would own a square piece of land measuring how many feet on a side?

    2. Each of the numbers from 1 through 100 can be written using four number '4's and common mathematical operations. For example, 1 can be written as 44 ÷ 44, or 15 can be written as 44 ÷ 4 + 4. Write expressions for each of the numbers from 1 through 10.

    3. Samantha has been contracted to sculpt a large granite globe for a museum's new "World of Math" exhibit. The warehouse where she buys her granite only sells stone in large cubes. If she wants to sculpt a globe with a radius of four feet, what are the dimensions of the cube she must purchase? What volume of granite will be left over?
